Getting started

Create an account, install and receive your first lead.

This guide takes you from zero to your first inbound lead. All you need is access to your website: either the source code or a tag manager such as Google Tag Manager.

1. Create an account and log in

We set the account up for you in connection with the demo, and there is no self-registration. If you don't have an account yet, book a demo. Once the account exists, you log in at admin.leadcaller.com and manage the widget, leads and settings there. Invite colleagues under Settings → Team and assign roles as needed. Not everyone needs full access.

2. Install on your website

Leadcaller loads through a single script. The script is the same for every customer and takes no ID: the widget recognises you by the domain you gave when the account was set up. It loads asynchronously, so your page load time is not affected.

Directly in the HTML

Paste the line into the <head> section of every page where the widget should appear:

<script type="module" defer src="https://widget.leadcaller.com/communication-widget.js"></script>

Via Google Tag Manager

  • Open your Google Tag Manager account.
  • Create a new tag of the type Custom HTML.
  • Paste in the code below.
  • Set the trigger to All Pages, or to the pages where the widget should appear.
  • Publish the changes in GTM.
<script>(function() {
    var script = document.createElement('script');
    script.src = "https://widget.leadcaller.com/communication-widget.js";
    script.type = "module";
    script.defer = true;
    document.head.appendChild(script);
})();</script>

WordPress

The easiest way is our plugin. Download it under Widget → Installation in admin, or directly here: leadcallers-widget.zip.

  • In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin.
  • Choose the zip file and click Install Now.
  • Click Activate. The widget recognises your domain, and nothing more needs to be set up.

If you would rather manage without the plugin, add the line to <head> using a header scripts plugin, or in your theme's functions.php:

function add_leadcaller_widget() {
    echo '<script type="module" defer src="https://widget.leadcaller.com/communication-widget.js"></script>';
}
add_action('wp_head', 'add_leadcaller_widget');

Shopify

Go to Online Store → Themes → Edit code in Shopify admin, open layout/theme.liquid and paste the line just before </head>. Save and publish, then check that the widget appears in your shop.

<script type="module" defer src="https://widget.leadcaller.com/communication-widget.js"></script>

3. Verify the installation

Reload your website. The widget should appear in the bottom corner within a couple of seconds. In admin, the status under Installation turns green as soon as the first connection from your domain has been registered. If you see nothing: check that the script is on the page and that the domain matches the one you gave when the account was set up.

4. Your first lead

Try it yourself: open the widget and start a chat or book a callback. The lead lands under Leads in admin straight away, and everyone on the team with notifications switched on gets an alert. From there you can follow up, assign an owner and move the lead through your pipeline.

Next steps: customise the look of the widget under Widget, add the AI receptionist for automated calls, or integrate with your systems via Integrations.
